HITO-Communications SUNWOLVES New Assistant Coach Announcement

Japan SR Association (Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Yoshitaka Tashiro) hereby announce the appointment of the new Assistant Coaches of HITO-Communications SUNWOLVES for 2017 season.
■ Ben Herring /Assistant Coach(DF Coach)
Borne in 14th March 1980 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Ben played for the Highlanders in the 2001 and 2002 seasons, for the Hurricanes between 2003 and 2007, and for Leicester Tigers in Premiership rugby until 2009. He started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Leicester Tigers and continued his coaching career with the NEC Green Rockets in Japan between 2011 and 2013. He also coached the Highlanders as a resource coach and the Canadian national team as an assistant coach and Canada 7s as an assistant coach. (interim head coach)
■Atsushi Tanabe /Assistant Coach(Attack Coach)
Born in June 25th 1978 in Nara Japan
After graduating from high school and university in New Zealand, Atsushi joined Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan's Top League in 2001. He earned 106 caps for the Wild Knights and 3 caps for the Japan national side. His career achievements include leading scorer, best kicker and 3-time best fifteen in 2008,10 and 11. After retirement, he served as a backs coach for Wild Knights and one championship. He also served as backs/skill coach of Hito-communication SUNWOLVES in 2016, the first Japanese coach in Super Rugby history.
■Shin Hasegawa /Assistant Coach(Scrum coach)
Borne in 31st March 1972 in Kyoto Japan.
He was a former national representative prop earned 40 caps including 3 from the World Cup in Wales 1999 and 4 from Australia 2003. He started playing rugby at the age of 4. He grew his rugby experience through junior high school to university and joined Suntory SUNGOLIATH . He was selected for the national representative side and debut against Hong Kong in 1997. After he retired from the first class rugby seen, he started his coaching career with the SUNGOLIATH as an assistant coach. He is currently a forward coach for Yamaha JUBILO.
